Carey Shaw - E C M East of England The current E C M for O U S A in the East of England is Carey Shaw.
"I have now been an O U Student since 2002, studying Earth Sciences, I have gained enough points for an Open BSc but am continuing towards the named honours award - hopefully getting there before they disappear!
It took me a year to discover any activity at a local branch but when a combined Norfolk branch emerged, I became treasurer of that, a representative to the Regional Forum and have attended Conference since 2006, becoming E C M East of England in 2008.
As a Student Representative on the O U Regional Committee and on the Science Faculty Committee centrally, I think that I have discovered how the University works and I am an avid supporter of the changes needed to bring OUSA into the twenty-first century.
If you live in the East of England and have a view or a question – please let me know what it is – I can be readily contacted by posting a First Class message to OUSA ECM E England or by email to ousa26 (prefixed to) @guest.open.ac.uk "

The East of England Region covers Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Herts and Bedfordshire, containing about 23000 students (12% of the total). It covers a large area with distances between large town of the order of 30 miles and, with present fuel costs, travelling long distances to meetings is not popular. We are trying to evolve a more localised group/branch structure based on smaller areas but not requiring anyone to take on the chores of officer posts so that students can meet face to face for a moan or natter or voice their thoughts online - On first class, look for O U S A East of England under O U S A Regions and nested under that you should find a number of towns listed, one of which may not be too far from you. Please post and say hello - we promise not to try to persuade you to be chair secretary or treasurer (unless you want to be one, of course).

The Regional Forum is a group of students who volunteer their time to meet and discuss issues affecting students in the region. We consist of officers and representatives of branches in the region, as well as a member of the Executive Committee.
The Current Regional Forum Officers:
Chair: Kim F Harris (Kim F Harris on F C Server 1)
Secretary: Jennie Snow (Jen Snow on F C Server 1)
Treasurer: Barbara Tarling (Barbara Tarling on F C Server 1)
Communications Officer: Joy Lindsell (Joy Lindsell on F C Server 2)

Branches
O U S A has branches at a local level. Not all branches meet in person and not all are active at a formal level within O U S A. But all branches do have a forum on First Class where you can meet other students online. See the link in the menu bar for more information about First Class. Where newsletters are linked these are in Word format and some personal contact details may have been removed. Where websites are linked these are managed by either past or current students so are not under the direct control of O U S A. The Open University Students Association is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.

Branch News
Newsletters are linked from the Branch name where highlighted.
