The Open University Students Association in Northern Europe

The current E C M for O U S A in Northern Europe is Patricia Knight
"My aim is to ensure that students do not feel isolated, know where to get help and also how to join in discussion groups with other students. These can be from the same course, in which case the topics would be more specific, or students from different courses, discussing studying and related matters in general. My aim is also to help make The Open University site even more accessible and easier to use than it is."

N E R F
More than 25,000 OU students study outside the U K and about 3600 of them live in Northern Europe
The Northern Europe Regional Forum (N E R F) has one online FirstClass conference: 'OUSA Northern Europe '. N E R F represents the following European countries at the moment: Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, The Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Each country has at least one FirstClass branch conference, except the Scandinavian countries who share one branch, the 'Viking' branch and Germany with over half of the O U S A Northern European students has several branches, each representing a region (e.g. O U S A Munich, O U S A Hamburg, O U S A Cologne, O U S A Frankfurt and O U S A Berlin). Due to the vast geographical size of our sub-region all meetings of this Regional Forum are online.

The link for the N E R F website can be found here

The current N E R F Officers are:

Treasurer - Inés Peters

Branches
O U S A has branches at a local level. Not all branches meet in person and not all are active at a formal level within O U S A. But all branches do have a forum on First Class where you can meet other students online. See the link in the menu bar for more information about First Class. Where newsletters are linked these are in Word format and some personal contact details may have been removed. Where websites are linked these are managed by either past or current students so are not under the direct control of O U S A. The Open University Students Association is not responsible for the content of external internet sites.

Branch News
Newsletters are linked from the Branch name where highlighted.
For info about meetings and other events please see the Local Events page.

Belgium
Study trip to BrusselsOUSA Belgium represents and supports the 400 or so OU students living in or near Belgium. In recent years, the Branch has been one of the most active in OUSA, despite its small size, organising a wide range of events, offering a wide range of services (e.g. providing support to students)and representing the interests of students in Belgium within OUSA and the OU. OUSA Belgium represents a flourishing multinational community of students from across Europe.

A great reason to participate in OUSA Netherlands is to meet other students either face-to-face or online! We also provide information you need as a student and are available to talk about issues you are experiencing rather it be about exams or help finding the right contact person. In the last branch meeting we had (the minutes are on the NL Forum if you are interested), the floor was opened to all kinds of discussions by students, and we covered a variety of topics including:
• Exams
• Tutors
• Tutorials
• Resident Schools
• Planning and managing time for future courses
• Discussed all our backgrounds and what we were studying at the O U (it was nice to see that each person was studying completely different courses/diplomas/ degrees)
Even if you are not able to join physically at branch meetings, you can always contact us via NL Forum and our e-mail address.
